Cops serve arrest warrant on DILG exec’s staff

MANILA, Philippines -  Police served a warrant for the arrest of a staff of an official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) yesterday.

Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrived at the DILG main office along Quezon Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. to serve an arrest warrant on Gerald Tan, alias Dindi.

Tan is an employee of DILG Undersecretary for legislative liaison and special concerns Emilie Padilla.

Padilla and two other DILG undersecretaries, John Castriciones and Jesus Hinlo, had accused ousted DILG chief Ismael Sueno of corruption and other abuses.

DILG employees were surprised when police officers proceeded to Tan’s office on the 19th floor.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court has issued a warrant for Tan’s arrest for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610, the anti-child abuse and exploitation law.

QCPD director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar said no arrest was made after policemen learned that Tan had posted bail.
