2 dead in drug-related shootings

MANILA, Philippines - At least two men have been killed in what police said were attacks related to the illegal drug trade in Metro Manila since Sunday.

In Caloocan City, George Sulayao, 38, was driving his tricycle several blocks from his house in Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang when two men on a motorcycle shot him several times shortly before 7 p.m. Monday.

Sulayao died at the scene. A source said he was a drug pusher.

Chief Inspector Ilustre Mendoza said they are still trying to verify reports of the victim’s activities.

In Las Piñas, family driver Alberto Lubang, 44, was resting when several assailants barged into his house in Barangay Daniel Fajardo and shot him repeatedly in the head, killing him at the scene.

Police are trying to determine his involvement in the drug trade after eight sachets of shabu were found on his person.

Meanwhile, the Southern Police District is conducting an investigation into the killing of drug suspect Jay Oanes, 42, whose decomposing body was found in Barangay Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas at around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Drug paraphernalia and a sachet of shabu were recovered from Oanes.
