PNP execs in Dayan arrest get medals

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Police officials who led operations to arrest Ronnie Dayan, former lover of Sen. Leila de Lima, have been awarded with medals.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa pinned the Medalya ng Kadakilaan on Chief Superintendent Gregorio Pimentel and Senior Superintendent Leo Francisco, Ilocos region and La Union police directors, respectively, during the 26th founding anniversary of the PNP at Camp Florendo on Thursday.

Pimentel was in charge of a month-long intelligence gathering and manhunt while Francisco led the operations to arrest Dayan.

Policemen who arrested Dayan earlier received commendations.

Dayan went into hiding in Barangay Lacung in San Gabriel, La Union allegedly upon the advice of De Lima after the House of Representatives held him in contempt for snubbing the invitation of the committee on dangerous drugs. He was arrested in San Juan, La Union on Nov. 22.
