Zamboanga peninsula’s most wanted killed

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A suspect in the killing of an Army officer and wounding of two soldiers in Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur was killed in an alleged encounter with government troops on Saturday.

Norhan Ambol, with aliases of Nho and Bungi, and his men clashed with soldiers belonging to the 53rd Infantry Battalion and Regional Public Safety Battalion in Sitio Balaisan in Barangay East Migpulas, said Maj. Filemon Tan, Western Mindanao Command spokesman.

Tan said Ambol’s group killed 2nd Lt. Joseph Cartagena and wounded two of his soldiers in an ambush on Nov. 21.

Superintendent Rogelio Alabat, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesman, said Ambol was ranked second on the list of most wanted persons in the region.
