Fil-Am nabbed for bullets at NAIA released

MANILA, Philippines - A 79-year-old Filipino-American was released yesterday after being arrested upon arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last Tuesday for carrying a box of bullets on a flight from Los Angeles.

Rufino Rondaris was turned over to his relatives, identified as Roman and Dianne Tacud, after he was ordered released by the Pasay prosecutor’s office pending a review of the charge of illegal possession of ammunition against him.

Rondaris was about to board a connecting flight to Laoag, Ilocos when the box containing 36 .25 caliber bullets was detected as his hand-carried bag went through the x-ray machine.
