Kalinga still without electricity

TABUK CITY, Philippines – Kalinga remains without electricity as the repair of power and transmission lines felled by Typhoon Lawin has yet to be finished.

 Annie Cascacio of the Kalinga Electric Cooperative (Kaelco) said restoration of power in the province might take over a month. 

Kaelco said 393 electric posts  – 213 in Tabuk City;  Rizal, 141; Pinukpuk, 8; Lubuagan, 1 and Conner in Apayao, 30 –were felled by the typhoon. 

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said it is working overtime to restore power in some areas on Monday. 

Meanwhile, in Abra, power had been restored only in Bangued. Officials of the Abra Electric Cooperation said full restoration may take a month, noting that damage to power and transmission lines reached P60 million.
