'High-value' drug suspect, 14 others fall in Zamboanga drug raids

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines -- Police arrested at least 15 suspects, including a ‘high-value target’, in separate anti-narcotics operations in this city on Sunday.

Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, information chief of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said that among those arrested were in eight separate operations were three young women.

Alabata identified two of the arrested suspects as Vincent Verancis Tan, 40, included in the Top 5 of the police's illegal drugs watch list and considered a high-value target, and his companion Arnel Ramos-Briones.

He said the two were arrested during a search and law enforcement operation at Zone 6, Barangay Ayala Sunday dawn.

Alabata said the police recovered 55 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P316,000, firearms and ammunition, money and drug paraphernalia.

The police have filed cases of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
