DSWD prepares for Carina

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is coordinating with other concerned agencies in preparation for the onslaught of Tropical Depression Carina.

Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo yesterday directed DSWD personnel in Eastern Visayas, Bicol and the Caraga regions to monitor the situation and intensify their coordination with concerned local government units (LGUs).

The DSWD field office in Bicol said it has a stockpile of 14,300 family food packs (FFPs) while 1,900 are on standby in Eastern Visayas.

The DSWD field office in Region 8 is also assessing LGU warehouses for the prepositioning of food and non-food items, including malong and hygiene kits.

In Caraga, at least 11,000 FFPs are available while personnel are repacking additional supplies.
