Dengue kills another girl in Bulacan

MALOLOS, Philippines – Another dengue patient from Bulacan has died, bringing to 21 the total number of fatalities brought by the mosquito-borne disease in the province for this year.

Records from the epidemiology and surveillance unit of the provincial health office identified the fatality as seven-year-old Jamaica Lorraine Echalas of Northville 4, Barangay Batia, Bocaue town.

The provincial health earlier listed four fatalities each in the city of Malolos and the town of San Rafael, three Hagonoy, two each in San Jose del Monte City and Guiguinto, and one each in Angat, Marilao, Norzagaray, Plaridel and Pulilan.

The total dengues cases recorded in the province as of Dec. 5 was 8,699, which is 300 percent more compared to 2,171 cases reported last year. 

San Jose Del Monte has the highest dengue cases with 1,190; followed by Hagonoy, 699; Malolos, 629; Santa Maria, 579; San Rafael, 559; San Miguel, 533; Bustos, 478; Baliwag, 452; Plaridel, 425; San Ildefonso, 339; Guguinto, 336; Bocaue, 326; Marilao, 259; Bulakan, 254; Calumpit, 248; Pulilan, 235; Pandi, 229; Balagtas, 225; Meycauayan City, 211; Paombong, 143; Angat, 129; Obando, 96; Norzagaray, 91, Doña Remedios Trinidad, 34

Earlier, more than 100 villages were affected by dengue, but the number has gone down to 95.
