Student dies of hazing; 7 arrested

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines  – A student died after allegedly undergoing hazing by a fraternity in this city on Wednesday.

Anthony Javier, 18, of the Western Mindanao State University, died while being treated in a private hospital here, according to city police Station 7 chief Superintendent Haywien Salvado.

Police arrested seven alleged members of the Tau Gamma Phi involved in the hazing.

Investigation showed the hazing was done in Abong-Abong Park at past 2 p.m. 

The incident was discovered when the victim was brought to the hospital for treatment of contusions on his body.

Police said they were preparing to file charges against those involved in the hazing.
