MANILA, Philippines - Search and retrieval teams fished out Thursday afternoon the body of an 11-year-old boy who went missing after swimming with his friends in a river in Marikina City.

Members of the local government search and rescue teams recovered the bloated cadaver of John Cedrick Gernale of Sitio Balubad, Barangay Nangka around 2:10 p.m.

Reports showed that Gernale, together with three other kids, went for a swim in the river around 4 p.m. last Wednesday when he suddenly sank under the murky water.

Authorities said the area of the river where Gernale disappeared is ongoing dredging.
