Cop shot down in Batangas

BATANGAS, Philippines – A policeman was shot dead in San Pascual town yesterday, authorities said.

 Police Officer 3 Pancho Aguilar Jr. of the Batangas City police station had just alighted from his car parked along the road in Barangay Poblacion when an unidentified gunman shot him in the face at 11:25 a.m., Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director, said.  

Aguilar was brought to the St. Camillus Hospital in Batangas City, where he was pronounced dead. 

Pursuit operations by Batangas City and San Pascual police led to the arrest of  a certain Joemar Marquez at his rented apartment in Barangay Poblacion.
