Valisno bus driver tests positive for illegal drugs

MANILA, Philippines — The driver of the Valisno bus that figured in a fatal accident in Quezon City was found positive for using illegal drugs, police said on Thursday.

Bus driver George Pacis, 25, has been tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride after undergoing the drug test conducted by the Quezon City Police District crime laboratory.

Police arrested Pacis, 34, on Wednesday afternoon after he fled the crash site on Quirino Highway in Quezon City while his conductor, Ferdinand Dacusan, was among the injured who were rushed to Tala Hospital.

The speeding Bulacan-bound Valisno bus smashed into a concrete boundary marker on Wednesday, killing four passengers and injuring 18 others.

Eduardo Remorin Agabon and an unidentified woman died at the scene after reportedly falling from the bus while Alberto Golpio and Arcenio Jacaba died at the Tala Hospital in Caloocan City a few hours after the accident.

According to data from the Land Transportation Office, the Valisno bus involved in the accident is registered to Rosalinda Manabat Valisno of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
