3 yield over P700K worth of shabu in Davao bust

Shabu remains the most abused drugs in the Philippines, despite the government's anti-illegal drugs campaign.

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities arrested three persons during a sting operation in Davao City, seizing several plastic sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu worth P735,000, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspects as  Rizaldy Banluta, 36; Edwin Duy, 40, a businessman; and Laila Dela Druz, 28, of Deca Homes Subdivision, Cabantian, Davao City.

Belated reports reaching PDEA office in Quezon City showed that last March 27, elements of PDEA Regional Office 11 adn San Pedro police, nabbed the three suspects after they sold a  plastic sachet containing a gram of shabu to an undercover agent posing as a buyer. 

The entrapment operation took place near a pizza parlor along Bonifacio Street, Davao City, the report said. 

When frisked, the suspects also yielded several plastic sachets of the illegal drug weighing 59 grams, an improvised glass pipe water-type tooter and a digital weighing scale. Also seized from them was one KIA Sorento vehicle (MFS-858).

Banluta, Duy and Dela Cruz will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
