MANILA, Philippines - Baguio City’s temperature dropped to 9.8 degrees Celsius yesterday morning, the coldest recorded so far in the country's summer capital since the cold season started last October.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the lowest temperature was felt at 6 a. m.

It expects the temperature to go down further until the end of this month due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila's temperature was at 18.3 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. yesterday.

The coldest temperature recorded in the metropolis since the amihan season started was 18.1 degrees Celsius last Jan. 27.

PAGASA expects a gradual weakening of the amihan in the early part of March.  – With Artemio Dumlao
