MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III will travel to Bohol today to assess the province’s progress in terms of labor and employment following the devastating magnitude 7.2 earthquake last year.

In an earlier statement, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Aquino's Bohol trip is among the activities for the commemoration of Labor Day.

"These visits highlight the administration’s commitment to a strong economy and its capacity to generate jobs and livelihood as we pursue our agenda of inclusive growth," Lacierda said.

Aquino will lead the launch of the Bohol Fabrication Laboratory (Fablab) at the Bohol Island State University in Tagbilaran City, according to a report from state-run Philippine News Agency.

The report said the Bohol Fablab is a technical prototyping platform designed to improve the competitiveness of Bohol's creative industry sector.

The President will be inspecting the state-of-the-art equipment inside the Fabrication Laboratory, the report added, which include a laser cutter, a high-resolution milling machine, a 3D printer scanner, a sewing and embroidery machine, a drying machine, a LED TV, a laptop and video conferencing equipment.

On Thursday, Aquino spent the Labor Day by inspecting some electronics and semi-conductor facilities at the Calamba Premier International Park and at the Special Export Processing Zone in the Laguna Technopark. -Louis Bacani
