4.6 quake jolts Caraga

MANILA, Philippines - A moderately strong earthquake shook parts of the Caraga region yesterday but state seismologists said they were not expecting any significant damage from the tremor.

Renato Solidum, director of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, said the quake with a magnitude of 4.6 happened at 12:49 p.m. yesterday.

Its epicenter was traced at 28 kilometers southeast of General Luna, Surigao del Norte, he added.

The temblor was felt strongest at Intensity 4 in General Luna. It was also felt at Intensity 3 in Burgos, Surigao del Norte; Intensity 2 in Surigao City and Socorro, Surigao del Norte; and Intensity 1 in Loreto, Dinagat Islands.
