MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Depression "Domeng" has further slowed down as it continues to approach the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
At 4 a.m. today, Domeng was located at 620 kilometers east of Davao City with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center. It is forecast to move west northwest at 5 kilometers per hour.
Domeng, which weakened into a tropical depression on Monday night, was initially expected to make landfall over the Surigao provinces on Thursday morning and then cross northeastern Mindanao and southern part of Cebu and Negros Provinces.
PAGASA had said Domeng may directly affect Southern Cebu, Bohol, Negros, and Coron in northern Palawan.
While Domeng continues to approach, Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered light rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms, the agency said in its daily weather forecast.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the northern and eastern section of the country and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to east with slight to moderate seas.
