MANILA, Philippines - A school principal was abducted by gunmen in Basilan while on her way to the campus on Monday morning.
A radio report said that a group of gunmen forcibly took Benita Latonio, principal of Manggal Elementary School, around 7 a.m. while on board a public utility jeepney in Brgy. Mompol, Sumisip town.
Latonio, a resident of Barangay Talisayan, Zamboanga City, was on her way to the school when the abducted, the report added.
Security forces in the area are now conducting follow up operations to rescue the victim.
