BACOLOD CITY , Philippines – Four high school students here have been meted disciplinary action after being involved in a sex video that was recorded inside the school campus using a mobile phone and uploaded on the Internet.
The principal of the public high school said in an interview last Friday that the Department of Education had directed him to impose the disciplinary action and to press charges against those involved in the scandal, including those who uploaded the video on social media.
He admitted that those seen in the video are their students, who he said confessed doing the act.
The 11-minute video showed a 14-year-old girl and a 20-year-old boy, both in school uniforms, doing sexual acts near the wall of the campus, while two other boys watched and videotaped what was going on.
“We apologize to those who have been affected by the viral video,†the principal said.
The incident, according to the principal, happened last month while classes were ongoing one afternoon. Those involved in the sex video skipped their classes, he added.
The principal said he learned about the incident when a parent of the 14-year-old girl complained.
He said he is leaving it up to the parents if they would file charges against the 20-year-old.
The video went viral when it was uploaded by the end of January, but the school authorities were not able to investigate it promptly, as they were busy with the Batang Pinoy National Championship Games, which Bacolod City hosted from Jan. 28 to Feb. 1.
The principal said investigation is still ongoing, adding that he had met with the students involved and their parents and that the case has been reported to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
