NCRPO female finance officer shot in Laguna

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

LAGUNA, Philippines - – A female finance officer of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) was shot and seriously wounded by unidentified men in Barangay Canlubang, Calamba City this province yesterday morning.

Superintendent Vilma Sarte, who works at the NCRPO finance division, was rushed to the Calamba Doctors Hospital where she was declared in critical condition, said Superintendent Marvin Saro, Calamba police chief.

Sarte sustained two bullet wounds in the face and hands, Saro said.

She was shot 15 meters away from her car as she was preparing to leave for work at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday.

“As of now, we have no suspects and the motive (is) still being established. However, probers are eyeing two angles – heated argument with an unidentified man and work-related. We are still looking for witnesses,” Saro told The STAR.

Senior Superintendent Florencio Saligao, Calabarzon police spokesman, said Sarte was rushed to the hospital by a certain Chief Inspector Jericho Cordero who happened to pass by the site of the shooting.

Saligao said the provincial police formed a special investigation team to handle the case.               – With Arnell Ozaeta
