DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – A 78-kilogram striped dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba) stranded in the beachfront of the Lingayen capitol died on Monday, after three days of medication.

Though it had a bite wound similar to a bullet wound, “probably there were other causes like bacterial, fungal or viral infection,” said Dr. Samantha Josephine Licudine, a veterinarian of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1.

The BFAR staff had named it “Polly.”
