Laguna barangay exec shot dead

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Motorcycle-riding men gunned down a barangay councilman in Barangay Tagapo, Sta. Rosa City this province Thursday night, police said.

The victim, councilman Augusto Espeleta, 42, of Barangay Malaban, was on his way home in Biñan City aboard a Yamaha Mio Sporty when he was waylaid at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon police director, has formed a special team to investigate the killing.
