P1.7-M reward up for 4 Digos bombing suspects

DAVAO CITY – The government has put up a total of P1.7-million bounty for the arrest of four suspects in the July 24 bombing of a Metroshuttle bus that claimed the lives of two people and wounded 30 others in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno announced a P500,000 reward for anyone who could give information leading to the capture of Salahuddin Hassan, tagged as one of the leaders of the Al Khobar extortion group.

A reward of P400,000 each was also put up for Abdul Malik Sali, Tahir Abubakar and Junaira Mimbida, who, according to witnesses, carried out the bombing.

Witnesses also tagged Mimbida in the Sept. 1 bombing of another Metroshuttle bus in the company’s passenger terminal in Digos City.

Southern Mindanao regional police director Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II said formal charges have been filed against the four suspects.

“But investigators have yet to gather pieces of evidence that would warrant the filing of separate charges against them for the Sept. 1 bombing,” Caro said.

The continued refusal of the Metroshuttle management to give in to Al Khobar’s demands reportedly prompted the attacks. – Edith Regalado
