TMG to summon van owner on seized shabu

- Non Alquitran -

Police would formally ask the owner of an L-300 van where 246 kilos of shabu worth P1.23 billion were found in Laguna Thursday, to present himself for investigation.

Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad, director of the Traffic Management Group (TMG), said he would write a letter on Monday to Dante Letada to invite him to his office at Camp Crame and explain his role in the seized shabu shipment.

“He can bring along his lawyer if he likes to. What we are interested to know is how the shabu shipment found its way into his vehicle,” Palad said.

Documents recovered from the L-300 van listed Letada’s address as Barangay Batuan, San Fernando, Masbate.

Palad said he would decide on his next move should Letada ignore his letter-request for him to cooperate in their investigation into the shabu shipment.

The L-300 van is now in the custody of the TMG at Camp Crame.

The van fell on its side after figuring in a road accident in Calamba City Thursday. Its driver and a companion then abandoned it.

When TMG and Laguna policemen arrived at the scene, they were surprised to discover that the van contained 25 plastic bags of shabu.
