The victim, Hener Rucha, 55, treasurer of Lakewood, a known rebel-infested town, was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Picanan, Kumalarang town when he was shot with caliber .45 pistols, said Senior Superintendent Ramon Ochotorena, Zamboanga del Sur police director.
Probers were still trying to determine the motive behind Rucha’s killing although they suspect that it might have something to do with the rebels’ extortion activities in Lakewood town. — Roel Pareño
