Holdup men strike in heavy traffic

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Motorists caught in heavy traffic along the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Highway here learned than even in the comfort of their locked and air-conditioned vans, they are not safe from criminals.

Last Tuesday, motorists witnessed how two men held up the occupants of a white Mitsubishi Adventure van and carted away some P238,000 in cash.

The holdup men fled on board a red Honda car which they had parked along another road which was free from heavy traffic.

Police said one of the two men pointed a caliber .45 pistol at the driver and demanded the bag containing the money from the female occupant, while the other fired his pistol into the air, apparently warning motorists not to intervene. — Ding Cervantes
