Antipolo slay suspect surrenders

-
The prime suspect in the brutal slaying of two sisters in Antipolo City last Feb. 1 surrendered to a congressman in Legaspi, Albay yesterday.

Jovy Guray, 27, a construction worker, surfaced at the office of Rep. Joey Salceda of the 3rd District of Albay at about 7:30 a.m.

But Guray, a native of Leyte, claimed he has nothing to do with the slayings of Jasmin Ballon, 22, and her elder sister, Agnes, 26.

In a radio interview, Guray claimed he was in Quiapo when the Ballons were killed. He said he went into hiding after learning that the police are eyeing him as the prime suspect in the crime.

Guray admitted residing in the area close to the victims’. He surrendered to Salceda to clear his name and "for security reasons."

The Ballons were discovered by Jasmin’s boyfriend Arnold Jaurigue, 27, inside their room at Barangay Dalig, Antipolo City in the morning of Feb. 1.

Jasmin, a ticketing clerk of the Cebu Pacific Airlines was stabbed 12 times while Agnes, a medical technology graduate of the Centro Escolar University (CEU), sustained 16 stab wounds.

Right after the killing, Guray disappeared from the area. Police tagged Guray, the alleged leader of the local "Akyat-Bahay" gang, as the prime suspect because he had a grudge against Agnes, who sent him to jail for snatching her cellphone last Dec. 8.

The police have in its custody two witnesses who testified seeing Guray leaving Ballons’ residence hours prior to the discovery of their lifeless bodies. Non Alquitran
