Fergie reunites with Black Eyed Peas at American Music Awards 2026

MANILA, Philippines — An emotional Stacy Ann "Fergie" Ferguson received a standing ovation during her reunion with the Black Eyed Peas, almost a decade since she departed the group.
The Black Eyed Peas' 2009 song "Rock That Body" won Best Throwback Song at the 2026 American Music Awards attended by Fergie and the group's current male members will.i.am., apl.de.ap, and Taboo.
The Filipino-American Apl began the acceptance speech thanking all those who voted and even spoke in Filipino, "Maraming salamat, mahal ko kayo, mabuhay ang Pilipino!"
Taboo, whose wife is Filipino, followed suit by speaking in Spanish (his parents are from Mexico) as he paid tribute to late hip-hop dup Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, whose "It Takes Two" is sampled for "Rock That Body."
Will paid tribute to his Jimmy Iovine, referred to Apl and Taboo as his best friends, and called Fergie an "awesome, powerful, fearless queen."
Fergie was fighting back tears when it was her turn on the microphone and the MGM Grand Garden Area cheered her on.
"What a moment, what a moment," Fergie began before clasping Will and Taboo's hands. "I want to thank all of the fans for voting for this so I could stand up here right now with my longtime friends and brothers."
The singer recalled the group's era when "Rock That Body" was first released then thanked all who made videos on TikTok and Instagram with the song, joking those led to her son Axl adding the track on his playlist.
She reiterated her gratitude for all the people making content with the Black Eyed Peas' music while she was still in the group.
"I get to now say this on television... Hi Axl, rock that body, we did it!" Fergie ended. "Black Eyed Peas, American Music Awards 2026, let's go!"
Fergie left the Black Eyed Peas in 2018 to focus on a solo career and her family. Since then, the group's female vocalist has been another Filipino-American, singer J. Rey Soul, a contestant from the first season of "The Voice of the Philippines" under Apl's group. — Video from the American Music Awards' YouTube channel
