OPM releases: Inigo Pascual makes comeback, Maki drops new 'pink song'

MANILA, Philippines — Inigo Pascual is making a comeback as a recording artist, while Maki celebrates a billion stream ahead of his Southeast Asia tour.
Inigo's "Ikaw at Ikaw" is his comeback project with ABS-CBN’s record label Star Music.
“It feels like I’m coming back to my home. I can easily say that Star Music, they were the people that really saw the potential in me from the very beginning and they allowed me to create music, to even discover that I can be a composer. Sa kanila talaga nanggaling ang confidence ko when it comes to music,” shared Inigo.
The son of actor Piolo said that "Ikaw at Ikaw" is about "finding oneself coming home to a loved one who has never lost their affection." It is inspired by his homecoming to the Philippines after moving back and forth between the country and the United States for his international career. It was arranged and produced by Gabriel Tagadtad.
“I wanted to go back to my roots, I wanted to go back to how I started as a musician,” he said.
“Ikaw at Ikaw” is included in Inigo’s forthcoming album, which is expected to drop later this year and will feature several tracks penned by the singer-songwriter himself. Its music video shot in Batangas will be released soon.
Inigo's other popular tracks include “Balang Araw,” “Catching Feelings,” “Mr. Nice Guy,” and more, and sang the official Philippine version of Coco’s soundtrack “Remember Me.” He has previously released an international album “Options,” under Tarsier Records, before starring in the Hollywood series “Monarch.”
Billion milestone
Another popular singer-songwriter, Maki, celebrates a milestone before he embarks on his Southeast Asian tour.
Maki's "Kolorcoaster" album has breached the billion-mark stream on Spotify. It contains the hit song "Dilaw," as well as other popular tunes "Namumula" and "Kahel na Langit."
He also recently released the single "Habangbuhay Pansamantala," which drops on May 24. Described by Maki as a “pink song,” the emotional track serves as an anthem for those stuck in a relationship where they are treated as second choice or kept on the backburner.
Maki composed the song himself, while Nameless Kids’ vocalist Nhiko Sabiniano handled the production.
To promote his new single, the singer will have two special fan events, “Pink Fest” happening at TriNoma on May 29, and “Pink Room” at Quezon Club, Solaire Resort North on June 5. Fans can get “Pink Room” tickets via Solaire Rewards.
Maki is bringing Original Pilipino Music to neighboring countries with shows in Singapore's The Theater at Mediacorp on June 13 and in Indonesia's Bengkel Space in Jakarta on June 14. His tour stops also includeNorth America, Australia, and New Zealand. Fans can avail tickets for the Singapore and Indonesia shows on MakiKolorcoasterTour.myx.global.
From content creation to singer
Filipino R&B artist and digital creator Jemay Santiago steps into a more introspective chapter of her music career with the release of “1A,” the new single off her forthcoming EP, “Depresyon.”
The emotional track offers a candid portrait of personal reflection and healing, set against a mellow hip-hop and R&B-laden backdrop.
“The song really came from a genuine and vulnerable place in my life,” Santiago said. “A lot of people know me through social media and content creation, so most of the time they only see the highlights: the success, the numbers, the entertaining side of me. But behind all of that, I’m still a normal person dealing with real emotions, real pressure, and real struggles that people don’t always get to see,” Santiago noted.
“I realized there are probably so many people silently carrying the same emotions every day: feelings of failure, pressure, self-doubt, or feeling lost despite trying their best,” she shared. “So instead of waiting for the perfect moment, I decided to be honest and just release it,” she added.
Musing over her creative process, Santiago also spoke candidly about using music as an outlet for expressing intrusive thoughts and emotional conflict.
She continues, “Dealing with ADHD, intrusive thoughts can get very loud, and music became one of the ways I learned how to process and overcome them instead of letting them consume me.”
“1A” is produced by Santiago, with beat production courtesy of Mark Arganda (Koii), and vocal mixing and mastering by Icy D. of Got Name? Collective.
