Cop, tanod with drug links gunned down
MANILA, Philippines - A policeman in Quezon City and a barangay watchman in Pasay City were among six suspected pushers and users killed in Metro Manila since Friday night.
Police Officer 1 Alfredo Tindoc, 53, was sitting outside his house in Barangay North Fairview when an assailant shot him at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday.
Tindoc managed to run to the back of his house but the assailant followed and shot him several times. He died at the scene, said Chief Inspector Tito Jay Cuden, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) spokesperson.
Neighbors told police Tindoc had been using his house as a drug den.
Records showed Tindoc has been absent without leave since October 2016. He was last assigned to the QCPD administrative holding section.
Barangay 30, Pasay city tanod Noel Valenzuela, reportedly a pusher, was killed by unidentified assailants, Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario said.
He alleged that Valenzuela was a member of the “Ravacio drug syndicate.”
In Marikina City, suspected pusher Edgar Cana, 46, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant, who barged into his house along Libis street in Barangay Concepcion Uno at around 3:45 p.m. Friday.
Cana and his partner were watching television when they were attacked.
Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Eastern Police District director, said Cana was in the EPD’s drug watchlist.
Other drug suspects arrested in previous operations identified him as their supplier, Sapitula said in a text message.
Unidentified
In Manila, two men were killed in a drug sting in Manila before dawn yesterday.
The Manila Police District did not identify the two suspects, who reportedly shot at the “buyer,” Police Officer 1 Glenn Jeorge Mendoza, along Camba street in Binondo at around 1:25 a.m.
Police Officers 1 John Lauigan and Allan Hilario shot the suspects, who were declared dead on arrival at separate hospitals.
Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver with three bullets and a spent shell, four sachets said to contain shabu, an aluminum foil strip, a 9mm pistol with three bullets and a spent shell, four bullet casings from the 9mm pistol and a metal fragment from the crime scene.
Body dumped
A still unidentified man was found dead, his body wrapped in packing tape and stuffed in a garbage bag, along Quirino Highway in Barangay 179, Caloocan City at past midnight yesterday.
Police described the victim as between 25 and 30 years old, 5’5” tall and clad in a blue shirt and red shorts.
Police reported that three sachets said to contain shabu were found in the right pocket of the victim’s shorts. – Emmanuel Tupas, Robertzon Ramirez, Ghio Ong
