Anti-drug tanod gunned down

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 32-year-old barangay watchman, active in police operations against drug pushers and users, was shot dead in front of his house in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City on Thursday morning.

Aaron Deloria was riding his motorcycle on his way home from work when he was attacked by two unidentified assailants on a red motorcycle at around 8:20 a.m., police said.

The back rider shot the tanod twice, according to police.

Deloria’s partner told police she saw the victim falling to the ground while his attackers sped away. He died at the FEU Hospital from gunshots to the chest and wrist at past 4 p.m.

Superintendent Lito Patay, Batasan police station commander, said Deloria was a big help to police anti-drug operations in the barangay.

The result of the initial investigation has led police to believe he was ordered killed by drug pushers, he said.
