Mechanic stabbed dead in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines - A 49-year-old mechanic was stabbed to death in Quezon City shortly after midnight yesterday.

Police said Rupert Dominic Callata, accompanied by his daughter, went to the house of Arnold Mandap along Apollo street in Barangay Tandang Sora at around 12:30 a.m. to ask him to pay his debt.

Callata’s daughter said Mandap and three others ganged up on the victim and hit him with a metal pipe.

Police said Mandap’s brother Antolin, Agapito Pupa and Antonio Gallardo stabbed Callata several times before fleeing.

The victim’s daughter sought police help after the incident.

Gallardo was arrested by police during a follow-up operation.
