FDA warns vs unregistered cosmetics

MANILA, Philippines - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued public advisories against 26 unregistered cosmetic products still being sold in Metro Manila and Region 2.

In two separate advisories, FDA advised the public not to purchase or use these products because they have “not passed through the verification process of FDA, thus, have no valid cosmetic product notifications.”

In Advisory 2016-051, the FDA identified the products as “Bsica Perfume Charming Hand Washing Gel” in rose, tulips, lavender, aloe, jasmine and green tea variants; Bsica Body Lotion rose; Bsica Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer in lavender and aloe variants; Bsica Hair Gel B5; NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation HDF 102 Soft Beige; E.L.F. Liptstick 7702 Classy; Dexe Hair Color Shampoo Chestnut Brown; Dexe Black Hair Shampoo; and Dexe Permanent Hair Color Cream 1.00 Brown Black.

These products were being sold in Metro Manila and Region 2, the agency said.

In Advisory 2016-052, the FDA listed the unregistered products as D & R Beauty Essentials Natural Cello-Shine Semi-Permanet Henna Wax Color Treatment; D & R Beauty Essentials Oxidizing Cream Development 6%; D & R Beauty Essentials Low Ammonia Hair Color 66/0 Intense Dark Brown; Earnigr Hair Color; Chromastix Hair Mascara; G2 Professional 1 Pre-treatment Clarifying Shampoo Brazilian Blow Out Healthy Straight; G2 Professional 2 Pre-treatment Keratin Blow Out Brazilian Blow Out Healthy Straight; G2 Professional 3 After Treatment Conditioning Cream Brazilian Blow Out Healthy Straight; Brazilian Blow Out Kerabond Clarifying Shampoo Sulfate-Free; Brazilian Blow Out Kerabond Keratin Blowout B Straightening Treatment; and Brazilian Blow Out Kerabond Conditioning CreamTreatment.

The FDA said samples of these products were collected in Metro Manila.

The FDA said it cannot guarantee these unregistered products’ quality and safety.
