Bautista, Belmonte win by landslide in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte received fresh terms, winning by a landslide against their opponents.

Bautista, a Liberal Party (LP) candidate, received 729,917 votes, according to the official tally of the city board of canvassers.

Leon Peralta of Buklod came in a far second with 35,087 votes, followed by independent Martin Sanchez Jr. with 29,938 votes and Alex Lague with 9,946.

Belmonte also won the vice mayoral race, garnering 736,274 votes against Henry Samonte, who received 26,254 votes; Rolando Jota, 10,238; Allan Bantilo, 10,137; and Glenn Acol, 5,151.

Both Bautista and Belmonte are on their third and final term.

LP congressional won in five out of six districts in Quezon City.

Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte was re-elected as the representative of the fourth district of Quezon City with 115,007 votes.

Bingbong Crisologo from the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) was able to defeat Boy Calalay in the first district. The two got 81,799 votes and 57,056 votes, respectively.

Jorge Banal, lone candidate for the third district, got 79, 579 votes while Kit Belmonte got 102,171 votes for his position as representative of the sixth district.

Winnie Castelo and Alfred Vargas also secured their seat as the representative for the second and fifth districts of Quezon City with 172,001 votes and 134,946 votes, respectively.

Banal, Kit, Castelo and Vargas ran unopposed under the LP.
