Fire leaves 500 families homeless in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines – A fire of still unknown origin broke out at a slum area in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City Friday night.
The blaze at Sitio Pinaglabanan destroyed 300 shanties, leaving some 500 families homeless, the city fire department said.
No one was reported hurt or killed in the fire, which started at around 11 p.m. and was put out at past 1 a.m. yesterday.
Arson probers said the fire started at Larry Mendoza’s house, which had no electricity.
They estimated the fire damage at around P200,000.
