Mandaluyong lawmaker’s wife joins LP

MANILA, Philippines - The wife of Mandaluyong City Rep. and House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II joined the ruling Liberal Party (LP) yesterday in preparation for her congressional run in the city.

Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, who is LP president, swore in Queenie Gonzales in the presence of her husband, about 300 supporters and LP presidential candidate Manuel Roxas II.

Addressing the Gonzaleses’ supporters, Roxas said he witnessed how the love story between Queenie, a former broadcaster covering the House of Representatives, and Gonzales flourished.

Like him, Roxas said Queenie would strive to continue and strengthen the Aquino administration’s daang matuwid or straight path policy.

Gonzales professed his support for Roxas, saying the country’s top leader “should have skill, integrity and enough experience as a public servant.”

“Mar, who is skilled in economics, is the leader the country needs to sustain its economic growth and make it inclusive. He will be our next President,” he said.

Gonzales is on his third and last term as congressman of Mandaluyong.

Abaya also administered the oath to Cotabato City leaders Mohamad Pagisan, Sukarno Sema, Mohammad Ali Matabalao, Michael Datumanong, Eduardo dela Fuente and Bai Princess Dilangalen Piang.
