QC dads want stricter ban on alcohol in gas stations

MANILA, Philippines - Three Quezon City councilors are pushing for a measure that will effectively ban the sale and consumption of any alcoholic beverage at all convenience stores located within gas stations in the city.

Councilors Don de Leon, Ranulfo Ludovica and Marvin Rillo said the recent passage of the anti-drunk and drugged driving law merits an amendment to a city ordinance banning the consumption of alcoholic beverages at gasoline stations.

The amendment to the ordinance is currently pending before the city council.

According to its proponents, prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages – in addition to the ban on its consumption – in gasoline stations would ensure the welfare and safety of the general public.

The measure did not include a proposed penalty for those who will violate the amendment, should it take effect.
