UP starts calendar shift

MANILA, Philippines - University of the Philippines (UP) campuses across the country have started the implementation of the academic calendar shift with the opening of classes of the first semester set in the following days.

In UP Diliman, general registration for the first semester started yesterday, with classes scheduled to start on Aug. 11. Opening of classes in UP Los Baños is also scheduled on Aug. 11, while classes in UP Baguio will start on Aug. 12.

UP Manila – including its campuses in Palo, Baler and Koronadal – will open its classes on Aug. 6, while classes in UP Visayas, UP Cebu and UP Mindanao will start on Aug. 18.

Classes at the UP Open University for the first semester will start on Aug. 23, while its classes for the first trimester is set to open on Sept. 6.

Earlier this year, the UP Board of Regents approved the implementation on a pilot basis of the academic calendar shift.

Other schools, including Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, are expected to implement similar calendar shifts in 2015.
