MANILA, Philippines - Half a kilo of shabu, hidden in the heels of five pairs of women’s clogs, was seized at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Monday night.

The shabu, with a street value of P2.5 million, was discovered in an LBC Express package that was supposed to be loaded on a flight for Zamboanga City, said Chief Superintendent Christopher Laxa, director of the NAIA-Aviation Security Group.

Laxa said the package was sent by a certain Helda Isnain of Luzon Avenue, Quezon City and consigned to a certain Itti Isnain of Basilan.

The drugs were detected during an X-ray examination at the LBC cargo terminal shortly before midnight. A drug-sniffing dog confirmed the presence of the drugs in the package.

The drugs and the shoes were taken to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for additional testing. – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Rudy Santos
