Mindoro mayor’s car stolen in QC

MANILA, Philippines - A government vehicle issued to a Mindoro mayor was stolen while parked in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro Mayor Lily Estoya is in Metro Manila for an appointment, according to Superintendent Osmundo De Guzman, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 1. She and her son Herbert were staying at a relative’s house in Barangay Sta. Teresita.

Her government-issued black Isuzu Sportivo with red license plates (SKT-249) “was parked outside the residence,” De Guzman said in an interview.

De Guzman said the vehicle was parked on the sidewalk Wednesday night. A tricycle driver saw the car being driven away by a man, but did not think it was being stolen. It was at around 4 a.m. when the vehicle was found to have been stolen, he said.
