182 landless families given lots in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government’s community mortgage program, in coordination with the Housing and Urban Development and Coordinating Council (HUDCC), distributed land titles to 182 landless families in the city, an official said yesterday.

Mayor Enrico Echiverri said that the distribution of the certificate of land was done in cooperation with Vice President and HUDCC Chairman Jejomar Binay in a simple ceremony in Barangay 186 in Tala.

The mayor said the 1.5-hectare property in Barracks II in Barangay 186 was purchased for P6.6 million through the assistance of the Socialized Housing Finance Corp. and was allotted to Caloocan’s landless constituents.

Echiverri assured residents that the Caloocan government will continue “ to provide landless residents of this city their own house and lot.”
