Pa mourns 2 boys' deaths on Facebook

MANILA, Philippines - A pastor who lost two of his sons in a car accident in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City Saturday expressed his sentiments on Facebook.

“It hurts so much knowing that I have to wait to get to heaven before I see you again,” Vincent Syyap wrote on his wall, addressing his sons Timothy, 18, and Josh, 15.

Syyap’s sons were with Bruce Garcia, 15, in a Hyundai Elantra driven by Thomas Olivarez Nguyen, 16, when it hit an electric post along Acacia Road.

Senior Police Officer 1 Henry Sayson told The STAR that the Hyundai Elantra (TOQ-397) allegedly driven by Nguyen was “running at high speed” at about 4 a.m. Because of the impact, the victims were thrown out of the vehicle, and the car was a total wreck, he said.

Sayson said the village’s radio operator, Gener Maborang, told him that Nguyen was supposed to bring his friends to their respective homes.

Investigators said they have yet to conduct a full probe since the families of the victims are still in mourning.

Syyap called Tim and Josh his “amigos, my pride and joy,” and wished he could tell them “how proud I am and how much I love you just one more time.”

Syyap also used as an image of his sons wearing hoodies and shades as a cover photo for his Facebook account’s timeline.

“This is how I will forever remember your 2 boys...always smiling and laughing with their homies and your other adopted sons (my Miguel included). And they even took their favorite hoodies with them to Heaven! Thank you Tim & Josh and Bruce & Thomas...my son enjoyed all those wonderful times you spent together. You will all be reunited again someday. Enjoy Paradise!” commented Syyap’s friend, Francis Macatulad.

Syyap’s friends encouraged him to find comfort in God and stay strong. For his part, Syyap thanked the people who supported his family.

“The overwhelming show of love for my family and the Garcia’s was awesome. It was so heartwarming to know how loved we are. To see friends, relatives, peers and skaters really helps us in this time of grief. I’m sure Tim, Josh, Bruce and Thomas are smiling and having a good time together. Thank you everyone,” he said.
