MANILA, Philippines - The Christmas celebration in Metro Manila was peaceful and orderly and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Alan Purisima noted no cases of indiscriminate firing and fewer firecracker explosions.

 “We continue receiving reports from the field with regards to the Christmas celebration and so far there is no cases of indiscriminate firing and a lesser casualty figure on illegal firecracker explosion,” said Purisima.

Purisima said there were no major criminal incidents in Metro Manila from the eve of Christmas up to noon yesterday.

“What we recorded so far are normal daily occurrence of petty crimes and no report of major criminal incidents reached my office,” he said.

The NCRPO chief congratulated his five police district directors and 37 station commanders for the peaceful Christmas celebration as he vowed to have the feat replicated during the New Year revelry.

He urged police commanders to coordinate all their actions against the distribution of illegal firecrackers with the local government units, especially with regards to the arrest of vendors and their financiers.
