The announcement was made during the culminating activity of the Nutrition Month celebration at City Hall.
Records at the Las Piñas Nutrition Office showed a continuous decline of malnutrition cases among children in the city from 21.4 percent in 1995 to a remarkable less than one percent this year.
As a result, no less than President Arroyo conferred Las Piñas the highest and prestigious "Maintenance Award" among the cities in the National Capital Region for its outstanding implementation of nutrition programs.
She also attributed the success of the program to the effort of city health and nutrition staff and volunteers.
Aguilar vowed to eradicate malnutrition by giving priority to the provision of health and nutrition care to city residents, especially among children living in depressed communities.
"This is the reason why we pursue the establishment of modern "educare" centers in almost all the barangays and depressed areas in the city, now numbering to more than 65, to make sure that our objective to eradicate malnutrition will be met," Aguilar said.
