Cop tagged in shooting surrenders

The policeman tagged in the killing of two men and the wounding of another last Tuesday night in Parañaque City has surrendered.

Parañaque police chief Superintendent Ronald Estilles said Police Officer 1 Joseph Flores, assigned at Police Community Precinct 2 in Barangay La Huerta in Parañaque, was accompanied to the police station early Thursday by policemen who met with the suspect at a pre-arranged location in Sampaloc, Manila.

Estilles said Flores initially called him up and said he was ready to surrender. The suspect claimed he was confused on what to do so he decided to hide for a while.

Homicide charges have been filed against Flores, who is now detained at the city jail.

Flores allegedly shot siblings Emiliano and Pedro Gammad, 31 and 25 years old, respectively, and their companion Rommel Doran, 27, after the trio allegedly attacked him along Mayuga street in Barangay Tambo at 9:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

The suspect was allegedly attacked after he had reprimanded the three men, who were intoxicated.

Emiliano, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body, died on the spot, while Doran was dead on arrival at the Parañaque Community Hospital.

Pedro, who was shot in the neck and chest, remains in critical condition at the same hospital.
