Candidates cross party lines in Makati campaign

It appears that the Partido Demokratiko Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has the key to getting the votes in Makati City.
PDP-Laban president and Makati City mayoral candidate Jejomar Binay gave a show of force in the premier business district during the proclamation rally of the party last Friday night.
Senatorial candidates of both the administration and the opposition came to support the three-time mayor and his congressional candidates in the forthcoming May 14 elections. Among the LDP-Puwersa ng Masa’s candidates who came to the rally were Jamby Madrigal, Santanina Rasul and Orlando Mercado.
On the other hand, People Power Coalition’s Senator Sergio Osmena, III and longtime Makati City congressman Joker Arroyo were also there.
Arroyo bade goodbye to the predominantly pro-Estrada crowd after three successive terms as congressman of Makati. True to his image, Arroyo criticized ousted President Estrada much to the dismay of the crowd as well as some of the PDP-Laban candidates.
However, he stressed that the PDP-Laban party and he were united in the issue of Makati despite political differences.
Specifically, Arroyo cited the issue of the Bases Conversion Development Authority property in Taguig, which he said rightfully belongs to Makati City.
Binay solicited the crowd’s support for Arroyo who he said has contributed a lot to the benefit of the city. "I owe a lot to Joker and we, the people of Makati, owe him our support," Binay said.
He likewise advised his opponents from the Lakas-NUCD party to concede the fight as he claimed to have the numbers for this May’s election.
First district congressional candidate Teodoro "Teddy Boy" Locsin announced the results of a recent survey giving the PDP-Laban candidates in Makati City more than three fourths of the vote.
Locsin also assailed the residents of Forbes Park subdivision for allegedly causing the spread of illegal drugs all over the city.
Forbes Park residents are known to be against Binay and his candidates and support the Lakas-NUCD candidates.
