House robbed; police offer tips to prevent break-ins

CEBU, Philippines - One of the houses in a subdivision in barangay Lawaan III, Talisay City was robbed while the owner was away Thursday afternoon.

Moises Torres, 56, came home to find the master’s bedroom open.

Missing from the bedroom were $17,000, P153,000, pieces of jewelry valued at P4 million, and a .45 cal. pistol.

Investigator SPO1 Edgar Tawson said in his report that the third floor was the point of entry.

• The police have offered tips that would prevent break-ins:

• For those leaving their homes - lock all doors and windows and ensure that all possible entrances to the house are blocked;

• If possible, install a burglar alarm to alert the neighbors that a break-in is in progress.

• Do not leave notes outside the house to indicate absence;

• Keep some appliances like the radio on to give the impression that someone is inside the house;

• Ask a trusted neighbor to keep watch over your house. (FREEMAN)
