CEBU, Philippines - Firearms Explosives Security Service Agency and Guards Supervisory Section (FESSAGSS) headed by its chief P/Supt. Rex Derilo seized during an inspection four plastic bags containing imported firecrackers in barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City.
The inspection made by the FESSAGSS made a local manufacturer happy because some traders sell imported firecrackers and pyrotechnics and these compete with locally made ones.
During the inspection, the said firecrackers were found abandoned under a table of a display center.
The store attendant denied owning the firecrackers.
As early as October of 2011, the FESSAGSS has been reminding businessmen who are engaged in the selling of firecrackers to secure the necessary papers.
The inspection ended successfully with no untoward incidents.
On the other hand, Mrs. Grace Pongasi, a firecracker and fireworks manufacturer was happy to know that FESSAGSS is going after unlicensed manufacturers and seizing imported pyrotechnics.
Pongasi said the profits they have made this year is not much due to the increase in the price of chemicals used in the making of firecrackers. (FREEMAN)
