Asean remedies at Devarana Spa

MANILA, Philippines - Using the upcoming Asean Economic Community (AEC)’s inception in January 2015 as an inspiration, Devarana Spa proudly presents its new Asean Remedies spa program, available throughout 2015 at all Devarana Spas worldwide.

Bringing together the best of the region’s natural ingredients and healing traditions, these are combined to create an invigorating spa experience, comprising a body scrub followed by a sublime massage.

The healing traditions from 10 Southeast Asian countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – have been classified geographically into four distinct programs: Mekong River Harmony, Malaya Retreat, Kalimantan Haven and Pilipinas Island Hideaway. Each one is devised to bring body and mind back into equilibrium within two hours to improve total well-being.

Mekong River Harmony is created from elements from each country that the Mekong River runs through. The treatment begins with a freshly made body scrub using tanaka powder from Myanmar, cashew nut from Cambodia and dragon fruit from Vietnam. The scrub uplifts the senses and exfoliates skin with its natural granules. The journey is then completed with a choice of a soothing aromatic Laotian champaca oil massage or an energizing Thai massage.

Malaya Retreat starts with a nourishing body scrub inspired by the famous Singaporean dessert cendol, blending sugar, coconut milk, the leaves and juice of fragrant pandan fruit and a touch of jackfruit scent. The freshly made scrub moisturizes the skin with its delicious scent and is followed by Langkawi-style massage, using deep tissue techniques performed mostly with the elbows for the ultimate body and mind reviver.

Kalimantan Haven stimulates the body with a warm scrub recipe using herbs and fruits which are the native crops from Indonesia and Brunei. The skin is thoroughly moisturized and the treatment is then followed by an aromatic Tuberose oil massage.

Pilipinas Island Hideaway brings a bit of summer bliss into your day with an ice cream scrub inspired by the famous ube ice cream from the Philippines. A unique blend of sweet potatoes, taro, oatmeal and lavender essential oil tones and moisturizes the skin. The cool sensation from the “ice cream” exfoliation at 15-20 degrees Celsius also provides an added benefit of skin inflammation reduction. The journey is then completed with an oil massage using sampaguita or a jasmine oil blend to enhance the pleasure of a warm summer day.

The two-hour ASEAN Remedies spa programs are available throughout 2015 at all Devarana Spas in Thailand, the Philippines and Maldives. In the Philippines, the Devarana Spa is located at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. Tel (632) 818-7081 or visit www.deveranaspa.com
